The Lingana Foundation is a registered Vancouver-based non-profit organization who seeks to restore peaceful, interethnic interactions between African and Arab Sudanese, Chadians and Central Africans. We seek to build local capacities for solving conflicts non-violently. Together with a local Chadian organization, our target group are youth affected by the conflict originating in the Darfur region of Sudan. Lingana's Education for Peace and Reconciliation is a groundbreaking program intended to address the devastating effects of conflict caused by violence on the Chad/ Sudan border region. The program is a result of consultation with youth, and other community stakeholders. It will impart proven conflict resolution methods through peace-building activities to integrated groups of youth. Youth who demonstrate excellence in absorbing and disseminating principles of reconciliation will be given the opportunity to continue in the program as peace traininers. Our hope is to equip a generation with the ability to continue in a non-violent civil society and build a foundation for peace in the war affected region.
